INSPIRE: Dwell with Dignity #OlioHop for #Charity Causes

Good morning to all of you lucky Dwell with Dignity blog fans!  We were fortunate enough to be asked to participate in an #OlioHop for #Olioboard this month for #Charity Causes and we just had to share.  What is an #OlioHop you ask?  It’s when a group of bloggers design a space using the online tool Olioboard, and then share links to each other.  Don’t know about Olioboard?   Olioboard is a great free tool that allows you to visualize your rooms in 2D or 3D on their beautiful *moodboards*. With Olioboard you can take a URL from any site on the web, add it to your mood board and all the details + pricing of that item will pop up so you can compare options and share it with those that need to see it -whether it’s clients, family or friends – or keep it private! Click here to view their website and what Olioboard is all about, and while you are at it, follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.  This #OlioHop for #Charity Causes allows us to show our donors and supporters what we do and what we need.

Dwell with Dignity is a non-profit group of Interior Designers and volunteers dedicated to creating soothing, inspiring homes for families struggling with homelessness and poverty. We provide and install home interiors for families that include furnishings and art, bedding and kitchen supplies, and food in the pantry.

If we can change a person’s surroundings, we can change their outlook on life. Exposing children (especially) to a nurturing home environment, that includes good design and art, can inspire a standard of living that will carry-over to future generations. Exposing parents to this same environment will allow them to see the positive impact it has on their family; inspiring them to maintain a standard of living they can be proud of and thrive in.

By creating inspiring homes with the labor of dedicated volunteers; and with the generosity of dedicated donors. Also, by educating all about simple, creative ways to bring good design into their homes.

The families we help are dedicated to changing their lives by learning to become self-sufficient. These families will reside in single-family homes and apartments that are provided by social service agencies or attained with the assistance of such agencies.

We find our families by working with existing social service organizations that have programs in place to help struggling families attain self sufficiency. Agencies must have accountability- based programs that address housing, education, career, finance, life skills and children’s needs. Organizations that are approved by our board may nominate families in need.

Our goal is to bring good design to the less fortunate—inspiring pride and a standard of living in which they can thrive. A whole-some living environment not only improves individual spirit and outlook, but also can help change bad habits, ground fresh focus, and give way to a healthier mindset for individual success.

Visit our website…you can find out how to volunteer your time, donate now or donate stuff.  Also, stay tuned – we are working on opening chapters in other “design hub” cities sometime in the future.  Your support is greatly appreciated!!
